Welcome to the Village of South Chicago Heights Web site.
South Chicago Heights' advantageous location in the south Chicagoland area is just a 33-minute drive or a short commuter train ride from downtown Chicago, Illinois.
Our community has the amenities and friendly character of a small town while also offering commercial and industrial opportunities. The Village's TIF District has enhanced our town's business district, centered around the historic intersection of Chicago Road (Route 1) and Sauk Trail. South Chicago Heights residents enjoy the benefits of close-to-home shopping. Local businesses include Jewel-Osco and a 24-hour Walgreens, as well as a variety of stores, shops and sit-down and carry-out dining establishments.
Within walking distance of our neighborhoods are good schools, parks and recreational areas. The Village provides excellent services while keeping its tax rate low. South Chicago Heights officials are dedicated to a vision of ongoing progress, carefully developing plans for new projects and future construction.
