Telecommunications Tax

The State of Illinois has collected the Simplified Municipal Telecommunications Tax at a rate of 6% on behalf of all Illinois municipalities since Public Act 92-0526 was enacted in 2003.

Municipal Utility Tax - Natural Gas

Pursuant to Section 8-11-2 of the Illinois Municipal Code, the Village of South Chicago Heights has imposed a tax upon the privilege of distributing, supplying, furnishing or selling natural gas for use or consumption within the corporate limits of the Village at a rate of five percent (5%) of the gross receipts therefrom.

Municipal Utility Tax - Electricity

Pursuant to Section 8-11-2 of the Illinois Municipal Code, the Village of South Chicago Heights has imposed a tax upon the privilege of using or consuming electricity acquired in a purchase at retail and used or consumed within the corporate limits of the Village are calculated on a monthly basis for each purchaser.
